STR: U.S. hotel results for week ending 20 November

U.S. hotel performance dipped from the previous week but came in closer to pre-pandemic levels, according to STR‘s latest data through 20 November.

  • Occupancy: 59.7% (-2.1%)
  • Average daily rate (ADR): US$126.66 (+1.7%)
  • Revenue per available room (RevPAR): US$75.60 (-0.4%)

TSA Checkpoint Travel Numbers are Close to 2019

Traveller numbers peaked at 2.3 million on Wednesday, down about 12 percent from 2019 numbers. On Sunday, Nov 21 traveller numbers was only 5 percent lower from 2019.

New COVID-19 Surges Keep Travel Restrictions in Place

One out of five destinations continue to have their borders completely closed as new surges of COVID-19 impact the restart of international tourism. The latest research shows that still 98% of all destinations have some kind of travel restrictions in place.

  • Sustained domestic rediscovery: As international travel restrictions continue, travellers are looking at domestic experiences.
  • Preference for longer stays: One in four global travellers stayed ten or more nights during their travels.
  • A new wave of travelers: Flexible bookings, easier cancellation, and shorter booking windows highlight the current traveller trends.
